I feel very depress of the earthquake. This image shows hows serious of the earthquake. The red color, the dots outside the earth and the lines inside the earth, the broken feeling not only shows the event, but also shows the hearts of the people. Many people is still missing, some family lost their relatives. The earth is dangerous and powerful. We need to think more about protect the world (global warming, sea level increasing, the tsunami).

Moreover, The clear white background foces me to focus the message "Help Japan" and the lines.This image has strong message and strong power. The world is a whole, this earthquake not only is effect Japan, we are living in the same world. Although we are not the same ,we should help each others because of the human sense.

Visit #2: Writing Machine Collective

This work is about collect some message which include "Life" and "death" words from Twitter and convert them into QR format. At the first, we see many QR code on the wall, then we need to use a device which support QR code to scan the code and get the original message. Each QR code means different messages.

It is very interesting, when I saw the messages, although I know the messages were separated,I still want to find a relationship between messages. I want to know more about why they write the message and think about the meaning of "life" or "death" in the original message. Maybe my understanding of the message is not the same as the original, but i think this process is very great. The words become meaningful for everyone through the rethinking process because each person has its own understanding. We gain different things from this work.

Also, The words become more interesting because we need to scan the QR code to see the message. More interaction between the words because We will not think about the words when the words just show up on the web or paper.

In-Class#2: Week 3 - Art-in-class exercise

Ex1: Listen to the played track and respond to it freely on paper. Comment to the classmate drawing and give a respond to the comment.

The exercise is a way to brainstorm an idea together. When we talk an idea, we usually think about rationality of the idea. This will limit our creation. When we do something without thinking, only follow our human sense and reactions, we can write and draw things freely, maybe the outcome is unexpected or created something new. I like this format because I really like the feeling of explore unexpected things. According to the drawing or comments, we can link the ideas together and use it as a part of the work.

In-Class#1: Week2 - Experimental Actions

Concept:Ursonate (DRESDEN->DDSSNR->de des nnnn rr)
Artist:Kurt Schwitters

The rythem is very inspired me. Each of the words get togather randomly and create a new pattern. I think this concept can use in different ways, not only for music or speech, but also use it in designing concept or brainstom process. When I listening the rythem, I want to do a AW at that moment. Want to write down the feeling and graphic in my mind.


Concept:Chance operations

Sometimes, I get lost when I am thinking the concept for art work. Now, maybe I can use this chance operation method to mix up or combine some ideas togather, for example, write some different words in a paper, then use a fourmla to combine the words togather. After that, use the linking words or something I'm intersted in and start to develop the ideas.

Chace operations is funny and game-like! It's make me have a new thought of art, not just drawing or painting. Art can be more possibilitly!

This is a paper cutting work. The cutting and background both used solid color paper. She cut a woman half-body and the woman is hugging herself. The woman's head are very puzzled, covered by many paper pieces. She want to shows the rapes victim's minds, the rapes's memory always appear in their mind, cannot erase it, they feel fear and without freedom, just like stripped in a memory jail. This status follow their life for many years.

I really like this work. This work can show us how uncomfortable the victim is. When I was young, I was a victim of indecent assault in public transport. The experience will appear sometime when I in the public transport again and I hate male for some years. The feeling was so bad and felt very dirty, I still cannot forget them now, my mind just like the paper pieces. Also, The paper material is appropriated for this work because paper is very fragile and soft, like the victim and their mind. When we cut the paper, the paper have scar,like the victim. Also,the paper cutting is a traditional Chinese craft, which is a way to express the female's thoughts. It is very suitable to show the ideas.

This work tell us the victim's pain and want to educate people to stop doing such things. It is worth to see and think about this crime in Hong Kong.
